
Philip Blum, age 67, of Hudsonville, MI went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 19, 2024. He graduated from Lawrence High School, before finishing his many years of education by obtaining a master’s in business education from Cornerstone University. Phil retired from the City of Wyoming and from Pfizer and was an Adjunct for Cornerstone University before he worked to impact students as a teacher at Nickels Intermediate school. He dedicated a lot of his time to his YouTube channel, “The First Chapter with Mr. Blum,” where he shared his love of reading to children. In his free time, he enjoyed singing and taking his family fishing with him. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Sue, his favorite trip being to Ireland to assist missionaries on the island. He was a faithful follower of Christ and was deeply involved with his church and local youth and camp ministries. Phil will be remembered for his great sense of humor and for his deep love of his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allan and Faye Blum; brother-in-law, Tom Kuyt; and an honorary granddaughter, Haddie Bromley. Phil will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 43 years, Susan; children, Kenneth Blum, Emily (Aaron) Brown, Kara (Andrew) Terrill; honorary daughter, Sandy (Chris) Bromley; grandchildren, Alysha, Jackson and Carson Blum, Evie, Ira, Hollis and Carly Brown; two honorary grandchildren, Eloise and Fitz Bromley; siblings, Thomas (Dawn) Blum, Linda (Kevin) Benham; siblings-in-law, Sherry Kuyt, Eric Overweg, Steve (Kathy) Snider, Clifford (Eva) Snider; and many beloved nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Wyoming Park Bible Fellowship, 2260 Porter St. SW, Wyoming 49519 with Pastor John Dubois officiating. Inurnment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may visit with the family an hour prior to the service at the church. Camp Barakel was close to Phil's heart and he would be honored to be a part of advancing their mission and programming.
