Paul John Brower went to his heavenly home on Saturday, December 26, 2015. He was an honored veteran of the Korean War from 1950-1952. As a 1957 graduate from the University of Michigan with his degree in business, he worked as a lifelong CPA. He was the CFO of Sligh Furniture Co. for 25 years and then finished his career as CFO at RBC Ministries in Grand Rapids. His joy and comfort was his faith, family, friends, flowers and fishing. As a Christian, he enjoyed giving, which was displayed through his boundless energy and generosity by providing thousands of winter coats to needy children in the Grand Rapids area over the last 10 years. He was a member of Calvary Church of Grand Rapids, a life member of the U of M (Go Blue) Alumni Association, the Presidents Club of the Heritage Foundation and longtime volunteer of Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park where he volunteered over 1500 hours. He is survived by his loving wife, of 57 special years, Mary E. (Dahl); his son, Lance (Ruth) Brower; son-in-law, D. Scott Meyer; four wonderful grandchildren, Brennan, Jenna, and Aubrye Brower, Christine Meyer; youngest brother, Arlyn (Charlene) Brower of Aurora, IL; a niece and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Esther Brower of Burnips; his beloved daughter, Lynne M. Meyer of Grand Haven; his oldest brother, Lester “Bud” Brower of Jackson. Funeral services will be held on Thursday 1:30 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Interment Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the funeral home and on Thursday from 12:30 to 1:15 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
