Paul Chongku Lee

Paul Chongku Lee, age 94, passed away on May 27, 2023. He was preceded in death by, his parents, Noh & Monduk Lee; sisters, Jungsun Lee and Jungnam Lee. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Kim Lee; his daughters, Sunny Sun, Jeannette (Jim) VandenAkker and Rose Park; his sons, Bob (Yen) Lee and Christian (Haejin) Lee; grandchildren, Kristine Park (Chris Wang), Harrison (Katie) Lee, Michael Lee, Joe (Molly) Lee, Rachael Park, Nicholas Lee and Alec VandenAkker; great grandchild, Milo Wang. He married Kim Lee on March 20, 1955 and they were married for 68 years. He was a loving husband and a devoted father to us all.

He graduated from Seoul Yongsan Rail School, and worked as a railroad engineer. After graduating from KyungBuk YoungIl Police Academy, he served as a police officer and also served in the South Korean Army in the Korean War.

He and his family immigrated from South Korea to Grand Rapids Michigan on October 28, 1973, where he resided until his death. He was an ordained deacon from Korean Grace Christian Reformed Church on October 17, 1982, and then an ordained Elder on January 14, 2001. Funeral services will be held 1:30 pm Friday, June 2, 2023 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood, with Rev. Moon Bae Kim officiating. Burial will be held at Rest Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 1-1:30 pm at the funeral home prior to the service.
