Patricia Smits

Patricia Lee Smits, age 89, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 28, 2018.  She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 66 years, Charles “Chuck”; children, Deborah Kay and Michael Slaughter, Richard C. and Diane Smits; grandchildren: Bradford (Erin Victory) Slaughter, Mackenzie Slaughter, Allison (Matt) LaCross, Jennifer (James) Beckering, Bryan (Nikki) Smits; 7 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her grandson, Tyler Slaughter. Pat was a “social butterfly”. If traveling, she preferred to see people rather than places and things. Her happiest times were those spent with family and friends. She and Chuck were blessed to enjoy over 25 years of retirement together. A private service will be held at  Fairplains Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to her grandson, Tyler Slaughter’s Scholarship Fund at Fremont Area Community Foundation.
