Patricia Lynn Aldrich

February 16, 1951 ~
November 18, 2021

“Goodbye” was always the most difficult phrase Patricia Lynn (Stephens) Aldrich, 70, could say, and now she has left us saying our own goodbyes as she experiences the fullness of eternity. On the afternoon of November 18, 2021, having just celebrated her 48th wedding anniversary with her husband, Gregory Duncan Aldrich, Patty peacefully joined Jesus and her late parents, Theodore and Blanche Stephens. She is survived by her older brother, Larry Stephens. Missing Patty are her husband, Greg; four grown children, Sara (Chad), Matthew (Chasidy), Lauren (Caleb), and Seth; as well as her nine grandchildren, Sabra, Samuel, Elliana, Nevin, Abigail, Maxwell, Aviya, Isaac, and Isabelle. Because she was, naturally, “Grandma-with-the-3-Dogs,” also pining for Patty are her much-adored Yorkshire Terriers, Lilly, Ruby, and Iris, upon whom she was as quick to dote as she was upon her grandkids.

In addition to spending over forty years as an early-childhood educator, Patty was never without a novel to read or a plethora of flowers in her happily-tended garden. Summers were spent in the sunshine, floating in the pool with her dogs and family splashing nearby. Her family tenderly recalls being sung to with her favorite hymns or hearing the soothingly imperfect sing-song voice she used for the littlest family members. Her faith in Christ assured her of her eternal home in heaven, and her deepest desire was that her children and grandchildren would enjoy the same personal relationship she had with her Savior.

No matter where we wandered, her love created a constant home for our family. Whether she offered the perfect gift, a warm embrace, a timely card of encouragement, or a gentle pat on the foot, Patty has left a legacy of loving well in the little things. Instead of mere farewells we say, “Until next time,” to a most beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of Life open house in honor of Patricia will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 1-3 pm at Living Grace Ministries, 4880 36th St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49512. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Faith Hospice of Grand Rapids. Condolences may be sent online at www.mkdfuneralhome.com.
