Norman Kenneth VanHeulen

Norman Kenneth VanHeulen, age 85, of Kalamazoo, MI, peacefully passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2019, and went home to be with his Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Viola VanHeulen; brothers, Arthur and Leonard VanHeulen. Norm will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Barbara; children, David VanHeulen, Judy and Christopher Black, Daniel VanHeulen, Jan and John Thorn, Jill and Edwin Farnsworth; grandchildren, Shanel and John Sweeting, Amy and Michael Grandy, Andrew and Audrey Black, Abby and Andrew D’Addario, Marleigh Thorn, Leanne Thorn, Nathan Thorn, Julie Farnsworth, Jared Farnsworth, Jennifer Farnsworth; 12 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Norm proudly served our country as a member of the United States Coast Guard. He retired from the Upjohn Company and spent his retirement years loving and enjoying his family, volunteering at church and in his community, participating in Bible studies, walking, golfing, bowling, and wintering in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 9, 2019, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville), 4145 Chicago Drive SW, with Hal Derksen officiating. Interment Fort Custer National Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday, February 8, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes or Faith Hospice.
