Norma Jean Sommers, age 84 of Byron Center, MI, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Norma touched the lives of many with her warmth, generosity, and quiet strength. Norma’s greatest joy in life was her family. She and Terry were happily married for sixty three years. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Being part of their lives was her greatest pride, and she was always deeply involved, offering encouragement, laughter, and love at every step. Beyond her family, Norma was devout in faith. Her Catholic faith was a guiding light throughout her life. Norma’s devotion gave her strength, comfort, and joy, and she lived her faith as God asked her to, through the love, compassion, and generosity she shared with others. Norma enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She especially loved crafting, creating beautiful things with her hands and sharing them with others. She is survived by her husband, James Terrance Sommers (Terry); and her four children, Jodi Behrend (Charles), Steve Sommers (Amy), James Sommers (Demetria), Jeffrey Sommers (Jen) and 9 grandchildren; Sara (Kyler), Matthew, Mitchell, Grace, Joshua, Zachary, Nathan, Colton, & Delaney and 2 great-grandchildren; Sadie & Weston. She is also remembered fondly by her sister, Palma (John), and her brothers Bud (Sue) and Fred (Elise).
