
Nora Elizabeth Modderman, age 76, of Byron Center, was called to her heavenly home on Saturday, August 12, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Bruce; brother, Jeffrey Wilson; and sister, Wanda Kenmir; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Shoemaker. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Melissa (Mark) Wielinga, Brent (Megan) Modderman; grandchildren, Anders, Connor, and Isaac Bogard, Eli, Oliver, and Lucy Modderman; brother, Clayton (Carol) Wilson; sister, Melanie (Bryan) Steele; brother-in-law, Ray (Elaine) Shoemaker; dear friends, Chris and Dr. Dean Smith, Sharon Streelman; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Nora was a warm, caring, loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an active woman who had many friends. She was a woman of strong faith and a servant of the Lord. Nora was a hard worker who became a respiratory therapist and worked at Butterworth Hospital until she became employed at Airway Oxygen. Nora was born in Rhode Island and then moved to Seattle, WA when her dad was transferred to the Naval Station there. She then moved to Grand Rapids to attend Grace Bible College. She met the love of her life, Bruce, while working at the Rainbow Grill where he was a cook, and she was a server. Most of all Nora loved her grandchildren and enjoyed attending their athletic and school activities. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday, August 15 from 4-7 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Grace University or Calvary Missions.
