Nelson DeYoung, age 90, a man of God, entered heaven Friday, June 5, 2015. He was 3rd of 6 children born to Andrew and Gertrude DeYoung, all of whom predeceased him, along with a daughter-in-law Sherri DeYoung. Nelson proudly served in the United States Army during WWII as a cook with the 71st field hospital, which literally took him around the world. He leaves behind his wife of almost 69 years, Anna (Heuker) DeYoung and children, Jim and Barb DeYoung, Rog & Sally DeYoung, Ron & Pat DeYoung, Gord & Kathi DeYoung, Larry & Lori DeYoung, Bev & Tom VanDyken; 37 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren with 3 on the way; 2 great great grandchildren with 2 on the way; sisters-in-law, Ida DeYoung, Steena Schepers, Sue Rittenger, Alberta & Ken Agema; brother-in-law, Herman Heuker. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 8, 2015 1:00 PM at Bethany United Reformed Church, 5401 Byron Center Avenue SW, with Rev. Arthur Besteman and Rev. Paul DeVries officiating. Interment Floral View Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday, June 7, 2015 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Drive SW and Monday, 12:00 – 1:00 prior to the service at church.
