Steven Michael Lambert, 51, of Grand Rapids, MI passed away unexpectedly on October 27, 2026. He was born on June 25, 1975, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Albert and Michelle (Riste) Lambert. Steven spent his entire life in the Grand Rapids community he called home. Steven had a subtle, sarcastic sense of humor that those who knew him will remember and smile about. He was a natural problem-solver who could fix just about anything. He loved working on cars and could often be found in a garage or a driveway, surrounded by tools and a project in progress. He spent many years driving over the road as a truck driver, a career that came to an unexpected end following a back injury in November of 2011. The injury left him with chronic pain that he endured for the duration of his life even after several major back surgeries in hopes of some pain relief. Although, it never took away his willingness to help others and go on many camping and RV adventures with Rosa after beginning a relationship with her in May of 2010. He also loved when family and friends joined in on the adventures and looked forward to the annual “Old Engine Show” in Buckley, MI with Rosa’s family, because. Afterwards it became a tradition to head to Mackinac to spend several days, and then off to Amber and RJ’s lake house. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing whenever he was able. And loved spending countless days napping with his cats Nahla, Patches, and Toes; with Nahla becoming his favorite, after losing his cat Rahdi to a heart attack in 2019. He enjoyed playing with them and taking them for rides in cardboard boxes in which they would calmly sit in the box, as he walked around while holding the box up high as if they were going on a plane ride.
One of Steven’s defining qualities was his generous nature. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it, often putting others before himself, even when doing so meant pushing through his back pain. He enjoyed cooking for family and friends and made an effort to be part of family gatherings and special occasions. Steven also enjoyed watching his favorite shows of Ice Road Truckers, Highway Thru Hell, Law & Order, and Gold Rush either on his own or with family. A man of faith, Steven, found strength and hope in prayer; as a child he sometimes attended Pennellwood Church of God with his sister and brother; St. Peter & Paul Catholic church occasionally with Aunt Paula and cousins, as well as attending Kentwood Community Church with Rosa at times, and most recently began attending City Life church.
Steven’s life was made up of the things that mattered most to him: family and friends, helping others, working with his hands, and making the most of time spent with those he loved. He leaves behind countless memories, stories, and acts of kindness that will continue to be shared and cherished by all who knew and loved him. Steven is survived by his wife, Rosa Herrera; parents, Albert and Michelle Lambert; his older sister, Amber (Lambert) and RJ Hermann; his younger brother, Douglas and Nicole Lambert; and mother of his children Vicki (Ringnalda) Holmes and their two sons, Tyler and Bruce Lambert; the Herrera family; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
