
Mohammed “Mo” Jammal, age 77, entered the presence of God surrounded by his family on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. His love for God and his family were as extraordinary as his life and personality. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Beth (Christians) Jammal; children: Rev. Shannon (Kevin) Jammal-Hollemans of Lowell, Tarek Jammal of Kentwood, Tamara (Jens) Milobinski of Holland, Joseph (Laura) Jammal of Byron Center, and Noelle (Mitchell) Vander Kodde of Stuttgart, Germany; as well as six grandchildren: Morgan, Jonah, and Wes Hollemans; Aila Jammal; Monroe and Grant Milobinski. Mo is also survived by his nephew, Ahmad El-Ali; sister, Zahira Jammal of Lebanon; mother-in-law, Hazel Christians; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Beth Christians, Dave and Karen Christians and Judy Meulenberg; as well as many nieces and nephews in the U.S., Middle East, Europe, and Africa. Mo was born in Lebanon and spent his formative years in Lebanon, Kuwait, and Liberia. He came to the U.S. in 1969 and lived in New York City and Kalamazoo before settling in Grand Rapids. He owned and operated The New Yorker Men’s Wear in Eastown from 1976 until his retirement in 2019. He is preceded in death by his parents, (Naime Jammal and Hanifi Jichi) two brothers, and four sisters. Funeral services will be held 11 am Monday, June 3 at Covenant Christian Reformed Church, 7171 Willard SE, Grand Rapids. Burial will be held at Rest Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood and on Monday from 10-11 am prior to the service at church.
