Mildred “Millie” Hinken

February 27, 1928 ~
March 24, 2022

Mildred Louise (Cooper) Hinken, 94, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, slipped away into her eagerly awaited heavenly home on Thursday, March 24, 2022, several days after emergency surgery. Millie had devoted her life to full time service with Stonecroft Ministries, traveling throughout the U.S. and Canada to find and equip Christian businesswomen in new communities so they in turn could impact other women for Christ. Once retired and living back in Grand Rapids, Millie met and married a wonderful Christian widower, Morris Hinken, to whom she was married 20 years, until his passing. Millie’s gentle, loving personality touched the lives of many, but especially the lives of her stepfamily who dearly loved her and survive her: Linda and (Jerry) Lind, Joan and (Al) Carrell, Vicki and (Richard) Hoolsema, Becky and (Mark) Veenstra, Rita and (Jerry) Vander Meulen; 13 grandchildren and their spouses; and 33 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many Cooper nephews and nieces. Millie was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Cornelia (Stad) Cooper; and her siblings, Marvin, Esther (Wiersma), Thomas, and James Cooper. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at 4 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. The burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday from 2:00-3:45 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to ReFrame Ministries.
