Michael Joseph Mooney

Michael Joseph Mooney, age 83, of Belmont, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 5, 2025. Mike had a great sense of humor and always joked that he graduated from St. Patrick’s in Parnell in 1959 in the top 10 of his class….but there were only 12 in the class. He worked as a mechanic for his career but he enjoyed working on his own classic cars and going to car shows/swap meets. He was a gold card member of the Grand Rapids Casino Club.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Kay; sons: Mike, Pat, and Denny; grandsons, Marshal and Trevor; great grandson, Easton; siblings: Maureen (Russ) Goodemoot, Donna Jaquith (Tom), Terri Mooney, Marti (Jim) Goggins, Dick (Sue) Mooney, Betty (Thomas) Jonker, Marilyn (Terry) Conley; many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Irma Mooney; parents-in-law, Marsh and Dorothy Inwood; daughter-in-law, Mary Mooney; brothers: Jim, Ed, and Roger (infant).

According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and relatives and friends may meet the family Friday, October 10, 2025 from 4-7 p.m. at MKD Funeral Home, 1601 Post Dr. NE, Belmont. 

A Celebration of Mike’s life will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at the Grand Rapids Casino Club, 3260 Salerno Dr. NE, Grand Rapids.
