September 1, 2021

Michael Bates Everett, age 70, of Jenison, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus, with strength and peace on September 1, 2021, surrounded by his loved ones. He was a graduate of Grandville High School and proudly served in the Air Force National Guard. He was a loyal Steelcase employee and retired after 38 years of service. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Buck and Mary Jane Everett; his only sister, Jody and her husband, Harlan Berens; his dear in-laws, Roger and Arlene Groendyk; and his brother-in-law, Ward Behrens. Mike was a loving husband, proud father, grandfather, and true friend. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, Lorraine (Behrens); sons, Michael (Angel Petro) Everett, Kyle and Tammy Everett; the joys of his life, granddaughters, Grace, and Lillie; his niece, Leah Scholten along with her husband, Eric and their daughters, Norah and Harper. Also surviving are his in-laws, Wayne and Thurlene Behrens, Judy Behrens, Larry and Carol Knoper, Earl and Betty Hall, Jerry and Mary Behrens; and many special nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1481 Baldwin Street, Jenison, where Mike has been a longtime member. Pastor Adam Peck will officiate. Visiting with the family is planned from 10-11:30 a.m. prior to the service at church. The burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or the Holy Cross Lutheran Church Foundation. Mike’s hope was that all who are able to donate blood will give that gift of life. A very special thanks to all of his “Angels” who cared for him through his journey at the Lemmen Holton Cancer Center and Faith Hospice.
