February 13, 2021

Michael Calvaruso, age 61, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on February 13, 2021 after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was a journeyman in the Welder Maintenance Dept. at the GM Grand Rapids Stamping Plant for over 30 years. Mike enjoyed family, American history, classic cars, and Lions football. His most prized possessions were pristine, twin, blue 1978 Trans Ams and a glass-enclosed model of the Titanic, which he meticulously hand-built years ago. Mike was an expert on Titanic lore and proud that, though unauthorized, he touched a piece of her hull at an exhibit! He was predeceased by his father, Frank, and is survived by his beloved daughter, Kelli (Jeff) Wynsma; precious grandson, Ezekiel Wynsma; the love-of-his life, Joyce Casady; 100-year old mom, Anne; sisters, Mary (Dave) Weaver, Joanne Scott, Carol (Tony Selvaggio) Bourgeois, Francine VanderMolen; brother, Steve (Lorinda) Calvaruso; best friend, Darryl Huebner; and many extended relatives. The family would like to thank the staff of Faith Hospice for the loving care that Mike received. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John Vianney Church, 4101 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming, on Thursday, February 18 at 11 am, with Rev. John Vallier presiding. Friends and relatives may greet the family one hour prior to Mass. Entombment at Resurrection Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice.
