
Michael Bernard Bouwhuis, age 64, of Grand Rapids, passed away unexpectedly and went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 6, 2025. Michael was a gentle soul, very smart, and an avid Michigan fan. He excelled as a salesman at Gelock and deeply loved his family. His Catholic faith was also very important to him and that was evident to all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his mother, June Marie Bouwhuis; and his brother, Richard “Rick” Bouwhuis. He will be lovingly remembered by his father, Richard and Bonnie Bouwhuis; siblings, Suzanne Bouwhuis, Christopher and Ewa Bouwhuis, Margaret and Greg Thompson, Elizabeth Bouwhuis and Robert Alferink; nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Theresa, Zachary, Seth, Amanda, Lance, Paul, Rebecca, Jessica, Alisha, Monika, Jessica, Cassandra, Megan, Melissa, and Austin; many great-nieces and great-nephews; his good friends, Ken and Dan; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, at Holy Redeemer Parish, 2700 Baldwin St., Jenison. The burial will take place at Floral View Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, July 9, from 5-8 p.m. with a Rosary at 8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. An additional visitation will be held on Thursday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
