Joanne Van Dyken

Joanne Marie Van Dyken, age 91, of Jenison, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerrit and Gertrude Vruggink; and siblings, Gerald Vruggink, Esther Holthof, Norma Boerman, Ronald Vruggink. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of almost 71 years, Gerry Van Dyken; children, Sharon and James Blair, Tom and Bev Van Dyken; five grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Joanne was a devoted prayer warrior who faithfully lifted others up in prayer, always asking how she could pray for them. She dearly loved her Lord and her family, and her life was marked by a servant's heart as she consistently placed the needs of others, especially her family, before her own. She also had a special gift for encouraging those around her, often sending timely thoughtful cards and heartfelt notes that arrived just when they were needed most. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Cottonwood Church, 1101 Cypress Dr., Jenison, with Rev. Matt Palsrok officiating. The burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Friday from 4-6 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Unity Christian High School.
