Merelene V. Barber

Merelene V. Barber, age 88, of Hastings was called to her heavenly home on Friday, February 11, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; brother, George Dixon; daughter, Linda Barber; sisters-in-law, Carol Betty Vander Velde and Dorothy Barber. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Dan (Linda) Barber, Gary (Linda) Barber; grandchildren, Tina Cisler, Ken (Sherry) Barber, Paul Pope, Theresa Marez, great grandchildren, Emily (Jordan) VanTil, Madyson Cisler, Makenna Cisler, Paul (Crystal) Pope, Justin Pope, Devon Pope, Jacob (Kendra) Pope, Deandra Pope, Karley (Josh) King, Jeremy Barber, Brendan Barber; six great great grandchildren; brothers, Benjamin Dixon, George Dixon; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Merelene was a very active, caring, loving woman who enjoyed traveling. She and Ken traveled to Las Vegas and went on several cruises to the Caribbean. After Ken passed, she traveled to Hawaii and Disney with her family. She loved to eat and one of her favorite foods was KFC. She was a very active woman spending numerous hours at the Senior Centers which allowed her to socialize and converse with her peers. She was a loyal and active member of Eighth Reformed Church. Merelene worked for many years at Wilson Sporting Goods as an accountant. The family would like to thank her caregivers, Annie and Cindy for the loving care Merelene received. Funeral services will be held 11 am Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood, with Rev. Harry Koops officiating. Burial Rest Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday from 10 - 11 am at the funeral home prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice or Eighth Reformed Church.
