Melvin VanderWest

Melvin VanderWest, age 80, of Grandville, went to his heavenly home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, July 17, 2026. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Connie; sons, James and Wendy VanderWest, and Jason and Sharon VanderWest; grandchildren, Sam and Daelyn, Zac, Cole, Alex, Trevor and Kassie, Cody, Aricka, and Jaykob; great-grandchildren, Tate and Haze; and many nieces, nephews, cousins. Mel was preceded in death by his grandson, Tyler VanderWest; sister, Sherlene and Tom McKay, and brother, Henry VanderWest. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor Harry Koops officiating. Burial will take place at Grandville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Wednesday, July 22 from 6-8 pm at the funeral home and on Thursday from 10-11 am prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice.
