Karen Myers

May 4, 1952 ~
October 18, 2026

Karen Lynn Myers, a bright force in the lives of her family, passed from this world on October 18, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 4, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois. Karen was the daughter of Robert and Lorraine Klein who preceded her in death. She lived life loudly and proudly and was a breast cancer survivor.

Karen is survived by her husband, Paul Lewis Myers; daughter and son-in-law, Tara Lynn (Myers) and Scott Henry Harrison; son, Sean Michael Myers.

She is also survived by her five grandchildren, who she loved more than anything, Helena Lorraine Harrison, Cecilia Jean Harrison, Maria Kaitlin Harrison, Levi Lennon Myers, and Chance Jacob Myers. Karen loved spoiling them all and making sure that they all knew she loved them. She also loved to chat with them about their days.

Karen had an outgoing personality and loved music. She was an accomplished pianist and routinely would play the piano at church or retirement homes. She did some piano teaching as well. Karen also loved to sing and sang actively in the choir at Georgetown United Methodist Church. She loved not only singing, but she loved the community and gathering with the women and talking about the latest events, especially if it was some gossip.

Karen loved her dog, Baxter, and would often take him for walks around the block. She swore that he was big boned and not overweight, and it was sometimes him walking her, but she loved it all the same. She could often be found hanging out with him while reading her books.

She also had a deep love of horses and used to ride them. Karen watched all the Triple Crown races every year and would cheer/yell for her preferred choice to win each year. Every year she wanted to see a Triple Crown winner and was always disappointed if it didn’t happen.

In her earlier days, she enjoyed golfing and was part of golf leagues and did play some softball, but she wasn’t as coordinated with that and had broken her wrist in one well talked about game. She was, however, the best sports and musical or concert cheerleader for every child, grandchild and her husband. Karen especially loved cheering as loud as she could at each event, typically specifically calling out her family with her cheers.

She had an immense love of reading and read multiple books a day. She read nearly every type of book you can imagine at lightning speed.

Karen was always in touch with her family as her family was greatly important to her and she regularly texted and checked in with them. She recently had a well-enjoyed trip to Florida and to John Ball Zoo with family.

Karen stayed current on events and was always there to update family on local or national occurrences. She previously worked as a legal secretary, but recently she served her country by working at the voting polls. Karen greatly enjoyed being a part of the election process and took her duties very seriously.

She will be remembered for her great, loud, and energetic laugh, her thoughts on things, and her warm smile and great hugs.

As her wishes were to not have a funeral, the family will host a small memorial at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at Georgetown United Methodist Church, 2766 Baldwin St, Jenison. In lieu of flowers, donations in Karen’s memory may be made to the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center. Condolences may be sent online at www.mkdfuneralhome.com.
