Maxine Schaaf

Maxine “Micki” Schaaf, age 95, of Kentwood, went to be with her Lord on August 28.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Schaaf; parents, William and Sena Westra; daughter, Sally Colter; son-in-law, Ralph Bowden; granddaughter, Shawn Shamali; sisters, Kathleen Crystal, Clare Kapten and brother, Eugene Westra. She is survived by her loving and devoted children; Susan Shamali, Sandra (Bob) Bennett,  Dave Lauritzen, Sherri Bowden, Ken Colter, sister-in-law, Pat Westra, 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was an amazing mother; loved and cherished by her daughters; treasured by her sons-in-law; loved and adored by all of her grandchildren. Micki volunteered at Corewell Blodgett hospital for 27 years, Girls on the Run, Wyoming Elections, and was a member of 4H. She loved golf, crafting, sewing, and camping. The Celebration of Micki’s life will be held at MKD Funeral home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave.  SE, Kentwood on Monday, September 8 at 11am.  Relatives and friends may meet the family on Monday one hour prior to the celebration of life.   The family invites you to join them for refreshments following the service.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Faith Hospice Trillium Woods campus.
