Maxine A. Verburg (Rodenhouse), age 90 of Kentwood, because of Christ’s magnanimous sacrifice on the cross of Calvary to cover and forgive the sins of all who follow Him in word and deed, is now safely in heaven with the Lord Jesus Christ. Maxine’s main goal in life was to leave to her children and their children the only legacy worth leaving, that of true Christian faith, which is love for the Lord Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her late husband of 54 years, Dennis H. Verburg; her brother, Edward Rodenhouse; and brother-in-law, Seymour VanDyken. Maxine is survived by her children, Douglas (Terri) Verburg, Sharon Bathrick, Debbie (Larry) TenBrink; eight grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Jessica (Nate) VanOosterhout, Elizabeth (Brad) Launstein, Kelly (Kyle) Aukema, Amelia TenBrink, Shannon (Jennifer) Bathrick, Jordan (Annee) Johnson, Cord Johnson, Kyle Johnson; ten great-grandchildren, Iris, Allie, Lexi, Kaelyn, Cheyenne, Savannah, Willow, Isaiah, Noah, Mariah; sister, Barbara VanDyken; and sisters-in-law, Gloria Rodenhouse, Bea Verburg, and Jane Berkenpas. Funeral services for Maxine will be held on Friday at 2:00 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood, with Rev. Paul DeVries officiating. Interment Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8 pm and also on Friday from 1-2 pm prior to the service.
