Maurice Lemmen

Maurice “Maurie” Lemmen, age 89, of Standale, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. Maurie was a kind and loving husband, dad, and grandpa who cherished his family. He was blessed with a servant’s heart and took great joy in helping others. He was the founder of Maurie’s Door Service which he operated for many years until he retired and established many friendships over the years. Maurie was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was blessed with the gift and skills of woodworking and many hours were spent in his shop making various things. He also enjoyed playing cards and bowling in various leagues. Most of all, his desire to serve Jesus and others was evident to all who knew him. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 69 years, Lorraine (Klynstra); children and grandchildren, Loren and Stacy Lemmen (Eric and Alexandra Lemmen), Karl and Sherri Lemmen (Hailey, Katie, Jodi, Zackery Lemmen); sister, Norma Kapteyn; many dear nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Martha Lemmen; his siblings, Bern (Elsie) Lemmen, Ethel (Tunis) Vander Lugt; his twin sister, Beatrice (Jack) Feddema. A memorial service will be held at noon on Monday, June 24, 2024 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Rev. Rick VanderWall officiating. Private family burial will take place at Floral View Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Sunday, June 23, from 1-4 pm and on Monday from 11-11:45 am prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Corewell Health Hospice of West Michigan.
