Maryann Alice Downer

Maryann A. Downer (Dickson), age 89, died Monday, July 10, 2023 at Vista Springs in Wyoming, MI. Born February 14, 1934 in Evanston, Illinois, she was the daughter of Royal Clark and Carrie Louise (Wilson) Dickson. Maryann was an RN and worked the majority of her career at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI as a kidney dialysis nurse. She also trained for and volunteered as a Hospice Nurse for many years. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Douglas, MI. Maryann was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Marion (Mon) Downer; son in law, Mark King; grandson, Nathan King; 2 brothers, 3 sisters; her parents, and dear friend Rev. Michael Danner. She leaves her legacy of love to her children: Mark Downer, Michele King (Michael) Shedd, Michael Downer, Marcia (Perry) Bieber, Matthew (Chris) Downer, Marguerite Downer, Marilyn (Michael) Hartwell. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Friday, July 14, 2023 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3937 Wilson SW, Grandville, Rev. Stephen Durkee and Rev. Fabio Garzon presiding. Burial will be held at Plummerville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming, with a rosary at 7:30 pm. Another visitation will be held at church on Friday one hour prior to the service. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Tim, Emma, Roberta and Lacey from Corewell Hospice for their loving care and support of Maryann.
