Mary Gioia

Mary Gioia, age 97, of Wyoming, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 15, 2026. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose vibrant spirit brought joy to everyone around her. She was spunky and funny, with a zany sense of humor that kept people laughing. Family meant everything to Mary, and she deeply cherished the time and memories shared together. She also had a love for music and never turned down anything made with chocolate. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Quentin Sella, Theresa and Joe Skrabis, Paul Sella, Anthony Sella, Russell Sella; daughter-in-law, Charlotte Gioia; granddaughter; Erika Phillips.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Cynthia L. Mitchell, Pamela and David Minnema, Susan Gioia and Dale Eddy, Amy Dietrich, Louis Gioia; grandchildren, Stephen Phillips and fiancee, Heather, Shelby and Vaughn Storm, Kenzie Dietrich and Calistus, Michael and Destiny Dietrich, Maggie and Justin Hulsebus, Mary Minnema, Larry Minnema, Britney Bishop and Chris, JordAnn and Nick Ferguson, Robert and Rozlynn Brown; 19 great-grandchildren; brother, John and Arlene Sella; sisters-in-law, Jan Sella, Wanda Sella, Dale Sella; and many nieces and nephews.    

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday,  January 22, 2026 at St. John Vianney Church, 4101 Clyde Park Avenue SW, Wyoming with Rev. John Vallier officiating.  Burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday from 4-7 pm with a rosary at 7 pm at  Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park Ave SW, Wyoming as well as one hour prior to the start of mass from 10-11am at church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Gentiva Hospice.
