
Robert "Bob" W. Unseld, age 81, of Wyoming, Michigan, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.
Bob was born and raised in West Michigan and graduated from Kelloggsville High School in 1962. A proud Veteran, he served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1966. Following his military service, Bob built a life centered on family, hard work, and helping others.
Bob had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and especially enjoyed camping, hunting, and kayaking. Gifted with both his hands and his mind, he was known for his ability to fix just about anything. More importantly, he will be remembered for his thoughtful advice, quiet wisdom, and willingness to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed. His kindness, generosity, and steady presence touched the lives of many.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Michael Unseld; David (Debra) Unseld; Paul Unseld; and E'licia (Jim) Saxe; his sister, Mary Lewis; his grandchildren, Faith Scheerhorn, Kerstin (Alex) Hamilton, Brenden Unseld, Maddie Unseld, Xavier Unseld, Jaysen Terhorst, and Amelia Terhorst; and his cherished great-granddaughter, Paisley Mae Hamilton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gus and Katherine Unseld Jr., and his brother, Gus Unseld III.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park Ave. SW, Wyoming, Michigan. A service of interment with military honors will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are invited to gather afterward for a luncheon from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at AMVETS Post 23, 98 52nd St. SE, Kentwood, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Worldmaker Resilience Institute.
