Mary Ellen Schumacher

Mary Ellen Schumacher, age 93, of Middleville, was called home by her Heavenly Father on Thursday August 4, 2022. She was born September 17, 1928 in Emerado, North Dakota to the late Wilmer and Lorraine McGrath. She graduated from Emerado High School in 1946.

She married Gerald “Bud” Schumacher on June 30, 1954. Together they were great friends, partners, and a beautiful example of a loving relationship for their five children. He predeceased her on June 17, 2016. Mary Ellen was also predeceased by a daughter, Katherine (Schumacher) Clark on December 7, 2016 and a son-in-law, Mark Pemberton on September 22, 2013.

Mary Ellen was a kind and loving person who treasured her family and valued her friendships. She loved to laugh, and enjoyed card games, crossword puzzles and time spent with her family.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children; Lori (Kevin) Mohler, Kevin (Michelle) Schumacher, LeAnn Pemberton, and Brian (Stephanie) Schumacher, and a son-in-law, Leo Clark. Also surviving are her eleven grandchildren, Brandon Clark, Amanda (Jordan) Midgett, Nathan (Dana) Schumacher, Sarah (Chris) Duke, Adam Hurd (Jennifer Edwards), Jeanie (Nate) Barrett, Elizabeth (Josh) Cisler, Jennifer Carson (Chris Yarger), Stephanie (Josh) Cutler, Dalton and Alyssa Schumacher. Also surviving are two step grandchildren, Connor and Madison; ten great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren. Also surviving are five sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law, Joan Schumacher, Lester “Les” Nienas, Jean (Lloyd) Schriener, Judy Schumacher, Ethel Adams and Bonnie (Larry) Kitchell; dear friends, Gordy and Linda Gasper and Pat Smith. Mary Ellen was aunt to 34 nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by one sister, Maxine “Mac” (Earl) Leddige; three sisters-in-law and five brothers-in-law, Vernon (Donna) Schumacher, Rosie (Tom) Reilly, Bernard Schumacher, Gerald “Red” Adams, Arden “Ardy” Schumacher and Ruth Ann (Nienas). Mary Ellen is and will always be dearly missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at St. Therese of Lisieux Church in Wayland with entombment in Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum.
