Mary Ann Roger

Mary Ann Roger (Emelander-Knight), age 86, of Gowen, MI went to be with her Lord on Saturday, November 5, 2022. She was born on December 31, 1935, in Grand Rapids, MI to Charles and Winifred (Stacey) Knight. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, her beloved oldest son, David Emelander; and her son-in-law, Rick Vaughn. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 9 years, Robert Roger, whom she absolutely adored, and they made many wonderful memories together. She is also survived by her children, Sharon (Gordy) Hubenet, Nancy (Byrd) Vaughn; step children, Pam Butler, Helen Blodgett, Becky and Marshall McGuffin, Bobby Roger; daughter-in-law, Sally (Gary) Willick; nine grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; twenty four step great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley VanDerBos; many nieces and nephews. Mary Ann worked as a seamstress for many years until her early retirement from General Motors. The years that followed were filled with her focus being on her family. She cared deeply for her family and always ensured everyone felt her love and caring. She was the rock of the family and will be greatly missed. Mary Ann and Robert enjoyed entertaining at their home having jam sessions with numerous friends. They had many regular spots they also loved to go out to with friends for music and dancing. For all who have known Mary Ann, they know that she was all about fashion and matching from head to toe. She loved compliments on her outfits and her joking sense of humor will be forever remembered by all who loved her. Funeral services will be held Friday 1 pm at MKD Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Drive NE, Belmont, MI with Pastor Alan Flowers officiating. Burial Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 12-1 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
