
Marvin Westmaas, 96, of Grandville, passed peacefully into glory from a long life well-lived on August 3, 2025.
Born on April 7, 1929, Marvin spent his youth on the family farm in Highland, Michigan. As a young man, he moved to Grand Rapids where he met and married Esther Etta Aardema and started a masonry construction company. The couple had five children: Mark (Mary) Westmaas, Ken Westmaas, Keith (Kimberly) Westmaas, Belinda (Steven) Jones, and Dianne (Don) Rozema. Esther passed away in 1989. Marvin married Charlotte Wever in 2010, and welcomed stepchildren, Deanne (Fred) Diekman, Dawn Groen, James (Peggy) Wever, and Jack (Julie) Wever.
Marvin was welcomed home by a host of family and friends: first wife, Esther; second wife, Char; parents, Adam and Tena (Vredevoogd) Westmaas; sisters and brothers, Evelyn (Hilbert) Bentham, Gert (Henry) Vander Veen, Richard (Evelyn) Westmaas, Tess (Sid) Cnossen, and Ken (Henrietta) Westmaas.
He leaves behind a legacy of faithful service to church and community as well as numerous schools, churches, commercial buildings, and homes built over a lifetime of masonry work. His life and example are gratefully remembered and celebrated by his loving children, stepchildren, 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Jamestown) 2371 Riley St., Hudsonville with Pastor Harold Veldman officiating. Burial will take place at Winchester Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Friday, August 8, from 5-8 pm at the funeral home and on Saturday from 10-11 am prior to the service.
