He was proud and honored to serve as a godfather to Cheryl (Kiel) Edema, Megan (Crowley) Vree, and Cameron Snoap. Always special to his heart and whom he loved dearly as his own, Melissa (Crowley) Kober. Other survivors include brothers and sisters, Donald and Louise Kiel, Mary Lou Belka, Janice and Floyd Ertle and Richard Enyart; uncle, Larry and Hannah Amborski; and many special nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday at 11:00 am at St. Sebastian Church, 9408 Wilson SW, Byron Center, with Father Chuck Fisher presiding. Russ will be laid next to his wife, who he so dearly missed these past few years. Relatives and friends are invited to meet the family at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Drive on Sunday, December 12, 2021 from 4-8 pm. A rosary will be held at 8 p.m. An additional visitation will be held from 10-10:45 at the church prior to the service. Due to his love of teaching and education, memorial contributions may be made to his granddaughter, as her wishes are to become a teacher like her Papa.
