Marinus “Tob” Visser

Marinus “Tob” Visser, age 94, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. Tob was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He grew up on a farm and carried his love for farming throughout his life. In later years, he found joy in tending to his own garden, caring for it with pride and dedication. Tob honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired following 29 years of employment at Steelcase. He was a humble, hardworking, and kind man who was dearly loved by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Annette; infant daughter; son-in-law, Michael VanOyen; siblings, Minard Visser, Marie Doornbos, Joe Visser, and Evelyn Yonkman; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Tob is survived by his children, Judy and Garry Whaley, Sharon and Jack Door, Larry Visser; grandchildren: Laura Whaley, Susan (Nick) Burner, Lisa Whaley, Jonathan (Jenna) VanOyen, Michelle (Kyle) McRill, Nicole (Zachary) Kennedy; great-grandsons: Jay and Luke McRill, Tyce VanOyen, Theodore Burner, Lincoln Kennedy and two more great-grandchildren expected in April; brother, George Visser; sisters, Grace Klamer, Connie Egberts, Fran Visser; sister-in-law, Jan Visser; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Rev. James Evenhouse officiating. Burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Monday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. The family would like to extend special thanks to all those at Care Cardinal Wyoming Woods and Faith Hospice who loved and cared for Tob.
