Marilyn Carrier

Marilyn Yvonne Carrier, age 81, of Jenison, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 26, 2020. She passed away peacefully in the loving presence of her family.  She has been reunited with her husband Robert; parents, Jarold and Hazel Williams; brother, Jerry Williams; brother-in-law, Jeff Holcomb; and grandson, Eric Carrier. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her son, Bill (Denise) Carrier; daughter, Kathy (Jim) Black; son, Larry (Kathy) Carrier; son, John (Mary) Carrier; ten grandchildren (Michelle, Elizabeth, Melissa, Kelli, Kevin, Erin, Mitch, Alex, Eric, and Jack); two great-grandchildren (Kayla and Logan); sister, Sharon (Vern) Bearinger; sister-in-law, Grace (Norm) Ritzema; sister-in-law, Mary Jo (Doug) Stout; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Marilyn enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.  She was a loving and caring person always wanting to help others. Marilyn was very active with her church, St. Pius in Grandville, volunteering in many ways including teaching catechism for many years.  She took great joy meeting with her “breakfast club” over the years.  Marilyn also enjoyed playing cards with her many friends.  She always was quick to ask how others were doing and rarely complained about her own ailments.  A private visitation and service for immediate family will be held at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home in Grandville on Tuesday, April 28. Everyone is welcome to join via live streaming.  To do so,  go to the funeral homes website at mkdfuneralhome.com, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the purple bar which states “Join Live Service.”  You will be redirected to YouTube where you will click on Marilyn Carrier.  Live streaming will begin at 10:55 a.m.  At 11:00 a.m. there will be a brief prayer service.  Interment will be at Georgetown Township Cemetery at noon.  You are welcome to join us at the cemetery where social distancing will be observed or you may participate from your vehicle.  Live streaming of the interment will also be available and can be found as stated earlier.  A memorial mass and celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate to the “Remember Eric-Fight Childhood Cancer” organization created in memory of her grandson to help fight childhood cancer.  Donations can be made at ericcarrier.com or with envelopes available at the funeral home.
