Maria Bishop

Maria Elisabeth Bishop, age 80, of Jamestown, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025, surrounded by her family. She had a great love of travel. Maria was an avid knitter, sewer, reader, tea drinker and enjoyed her Dutch licorice. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She was married to Stecher, who passed away in 2009. 

Maria was a loving mother to her children: Tania and Dion Pratt, Linda and Dee Parsons, Missy and Matt Fortuna, Deauna and Mike Hull, Somer and Scott Holzwarth; grandchildren: Justin, Elisabeth, Tyler, Hannah, Jake, Cameron, Tommy, Macey, Kennedy, Travis, Emilee, and Conner. She was also a sister, Aunty and cousin to family in Australia and the Netherlands. 

A private burial was held at Georgetown Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project or Kids’ Food Basket.
