May 23, 2025

Mrs. Marcy Mayle, age 54, passed away on May 23rd, 2025, with her family by her side after her courageous five year battle with ovarian cancer. Marcy was born on April 7, 1971 to Donald and Jean Evert. She attended Grandville Public Schools and Grand Rapids Junior College before graduating from Michigan State University. After graduating from MSU, she was blessed to begin her teaching career at Rockford Public Schools, where she taught mostly Freshman English until her retirement in December of 2024. During her time at RHS, she taught many other classes, but truly enjoyed her Honors English courses. While teaching mostly full time and raising a family, she made time to earn her Masters from Grand Valley State University. Marcy married the love of her life, Jamie Dean Mayle, on July 24, 1993. Together, they raised two wonderful children, building a life centered around love, support, and shared experiences. Much of their family time was spent at sporting events, cheering on their kids from the sidelines. With a stack of papers in hand and red pens at the ready, Marcy would travel across the state—always doing what she cherished most: being present for her children and celebrating every step of their journey. Marcy is survived by her husband, Jamie Mayle; children, Dr. Madison Lucille Mayle (Matthew Mirocco), and Kellen D Mayle (Melanie Bowman); parents, Donald and Jean Evert;  parents-in-law, Dean and Peggy Mayle; sister, Wendy (Joe) DeSmit; brother, Jeff (Jen) Evert; sisters-in-law, Tamra Mayle, and Bobbie (Chad) Dykstra. She loved her nieces and nephews, and her great-niece, Freya. The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Brader and his cancer team, and the kind people with Faith Hospice for their valiant efforts. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Saturday, May 31, 2025, at MKD Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Drive NE, Belmont, with Chaplain Cecilio Reyna officiating.  Burial will be held at Plainfield Twp. Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice.
