Barbara Lou Bouwman

Barbara (DeFouw) Bouwman, age 92, of Grand Rapids, Michigan went to be her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, February 2, 2026. Barbara left behind a legacy of children who love the Lord, a quality that she made sure to pass on to them. She was a dearly loved Grandma whose great sense of humor will be missed by all who got to know her. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Bouwman; son-in-law Tom Hargitt; and her great grandson Jonathon Vierzen. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Sandy and Dale DeYoung, Dan and Marcia Bouwman, Jeffrey Bouwman and Shar Branagan, Kim and Ed Koning, Pam Hargitt, Brenda and Mike Vander Toorn, Mark and Carol Bouwman, Todd and Denise Bouwman, Joel and Missy Bouwman, Amy and Adam Sterenberg; 35 grandchildren; 82 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be held 11 am Saturday, February 7,  at Lakeside Christian Reformed Church, 6201 Whitneyville Rd, Alto, Michigan.  Burial will be held at Chapel Hill Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 6-8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Tree of Life Christian School of Kalamazoo or Capernaum Young Life.  Condolences may be sent online at www.mkdfuneralhome.com.
