November 3, 2021

Lois Elaine (Springstead) Wolz, age 94, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord with her family by her side on November 3rd, 2021. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Lois had the assurance of eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ and strived to share the good news with everyone she encountered. Born in Muskegon, Michigan to Albert and Martha Kooi, Lois graduated from Hackley Hospital’s School of Nursing and went on to serve in this capacity for most of her life. She practiced nursing by taking a position at Blodgett Hospital; first in general nursing, then as a nursing instructor and finished her career as a nursing administrator. She had a giving and caring personality and found joy serving in her supportive role as a mother and pastor’s wife. She could often be found bandaging a knee, baking a pie, teaching a Sunday school class, giving allergy shots, and working as a camp nurse at Grace Adventures. A lover of music, her strong alto voice could often be heard singing hymns of praise and worship with her sisters, her children, her husband and in the church choir. She was always ready to love and support those around her with kindness, a smile, words of encouragement, and prayers. She touched many lives with her strong example of the joys of Christian living. Lois is predeceased by her husband, Reverend Kenneth Springstead; parents, Albert and Martha (Klein) Kooi; brother, Albert; sisters, Esther and Eunice; and second husband, Frank Wolz Jr. Lois is survived by her daughters, Mary Goossens (Harry), Jane Jensen (Larry), Martha Walton (Matthew), and Ruth Meyers. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Barbara Kooi (Albert) and her beloved grandchildren, Ryan Goossens (Hope), Jonathan Goossens (Raquel), Katherine Gray (Jeff), Kristin Johnson, Allan Vander Laan (Emily), Sarah Alexander (Paul), Emily Cardillo (Keith), Daniel Walton (Sarah), and John Meyers along with 20 great-grandchildren. God blessed Lois with additional happiness in her second marriage to Frank Wolz Jr. and she enjoyed close and loving relationships with her stepchildren Frank (Gayle) Wolz III, Mary (Ron) Whaley, and Steven (Deanna) Wolz. Memorial services for Lois will be held at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, Grandville, MI 49418 on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at 11:00 am. The family will receive visitors prior to the service starting at 10:00 am. A private family interment will be held at Fairplains Cemetery, Grand Rapids, MI.
