Leslie Lopez

Leslie Dawne Lopez, age 44, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 31, 2026. 

She worked at Cantina Bar and Restaurant for many years, alongside several members of her family. More than just a place of employment, Cantina became a second home, where the friendships and connections she made over the years became like family to her. 

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 12 years, Juan Lopez; her daughter, Alyssa VanBennekom; nephew, Shawn Parsons; niece, Kolleen Parsons; sister, AbbyLynn and Brian Moyle; brothers, David Parsons, Jason Parsons and fiancé, Kyle Krol; grandmother, Pam Williams; stepmother, Linda Parsons; stepsisters and stepbrothers; her “ride or die” best friend, Alena Roberts; aunts, Kammy and Brad Legg, Kristy and Jerry Rogalski; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother, Kolleen and Rich Hager; and her father, David Parsons.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2026, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Inurnment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Sunday, November 8, from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to The Humane Society of West Michigan.
