
Leon went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 14, 2023. Leon will be lovingly remembered by his sons: Jim and Lynn Stouten, John and Toni Stouten; his grandchildren: Shawn and Nicole Stouten, Nik and Ashley (Stouten) Owen, Nick Stouten; his great grandchildren: Taylor Owen, Madelyn Jones and Liam Stouten; siblings: Norma Bell, Kathy Wolfe and Harold Stouten; many family and friends. Leon was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Shirley Stouten; granddaughter, Tina Stouten; his brother, Kenneth Stouten and sister, Evelyn Messmer. Leon was born August 6, 1929, to John H. and Marianne Stouten in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Leon was a member of Brookside Church for over 50 years. Leon will be remembered for his unwavering faith in the Lord, his hobby of tinkering with things, his pride in being a butcher and his love for his family. You could always find him in his yard, at Brookside Church or on Saturday mornings at the flea market. Leon lived a long and fulfilling life with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A celebration of life will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Kentwood), 4646 Kalamazoo SE. Interment in Rest Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Monday 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The family requests contributions to be made to Brookside Christian Education Fund or Faith Hospice.
