Lela Ruth Raterink

Lela Ruth Raterink, age 91, of Walker, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, June 13, 2025. Lela was a loving mother and grandmother. In her golden years, she enjoyed traveling with her husband across the country. More than anything though, Lela loved her Lord and Savior and was a shining example of Christ’s love to everyone.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Earl Raterink; grandson, Brandon Raterink; siblings Nina Wright, Robert Balding, Wilma Woody.  She will be dearly missed by her children: Robert Raterink, Jacqueline and Daniel Syswerda, Nancy and Donald Westra; grandchildren: Robert (Taryn) Raterink, Heidi Syswerda, Kami (Joshua) VandenBosch, Ashley (Joshua) Lanting, Colton Syswerda, Amanda (Lee) VandenBerg, Paul (Lisa) Westra, Lane Westra; great-grandchildren: Brycen, Brynlee, Kora, Jaxton, Jett, Eason, Rhettley, Monica, Joshua, Gabriel, Patrick; sister-in-law, Betty Raterink; many nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 19,  at 11:00 am. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor Dennis Gilbert officiating. The burial will take place at Floral View Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Thursday, June 19 from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Wounded Warriors Project.
