Larry VanLangevelde

Larry J VanLangevelde, 75, passed away on October 7, 2023, in Grand Rapids, MI after a short battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). He was born in Holland, MI, on June 19, 1948 to Clarence and Leona (Klomparens) VanLangevelde. He graduated from Holland High School in 1966. Larry attended Western Michigan University to pursue a degree in automotive Engineering. While at WMU he met his future wife, Dianne Ennenga. Larry was a member of Sigma PI fraternity at WMU. Larry was then drafted by the U.S. Army for the Vietnam War. He proudly served in the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division, Charlie Company in Vietnam in 1971. He was awarded the purple heart and bronze star. When Larry returned from Vietnam, he completed his bachelors. Larry later returned to college and completed a master’s in business from Western Michigan University. Larry retired after 33 years of engineering from L3 Communications. Larry’s greatest loves were his family and sports. He served his community as the President of Georgetown Little League, and he coached all three of his children in baseball and softball. He golfed as often as he could and spent the last 15 years, up until his passing, on the sidelines and in the bleachers at his grandchildren’s hockey, soccer, football, and baseball games. Larry was a lifelong Michigan fan and cheered on the U of M football team until his final day. Larry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dianne; children, David (Michelle) VanLangevelde, Kristina (Ryan) Snow, and Leslie (Walter) Luscher; seven grandchildren, Gracie VanLangevelde, Mathieu VanLangevelde, Jackson Snow, Ryer Snow, Bean VanLangevelde, Charlotte Luscher, and William Luscher; sisters, Linda (Mike) Clarke, and Diane (Jeff) Spruit; brothers-in-law, Roger (Linda) Ennenga; special cousin, Brad (Pat McDuffee) Comport; many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Georgetown United Methodist Church, 2766 Baldwin St., Jenison, with Pastor Sherri Swanson officiating. Burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday, October 13, from 5-7 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.
