
Larry Bruursema, age 91, of Jenison, met his Lord and Savior face to face on Saturday, November 22, 2025. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Sue and Mark Bognar, Beth and Pete Bloemendaal, Sara and Dan Westhuis, James and Kim Bruursema; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one on the way; sisters, Bonnie and Norman Vredeveld, Sherry and Marv DeWent, and Arlene and Will Kloosterman; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Nancy Smits, Sandra and Ken Brown, Henry and Lois DeVries; and several loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Greta; infant grandson, Quentin Westhuis; and his ten siblings. Larry dedicated 37 years to GMAC as an accounting manager and later served his community as the supervisor and trustee of Georgetown Township and worked for many years on the board for the Ottawa County Road Commission. He was a faithful member of Baldwin Street Christian Reformed Church for more than 60 years. Above all, Larry loved and cherished the time he spent with his family and lived his life as a devoted follower of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 26, at Baldwin Street Christian Reformed Church, 2101 Baldwin St., Jenison with Rev. Ron Baker officiating. Burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, November 25, from 6-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and on Wednesday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Jenison Christian School.
