Shirley Maxine Burd

Shirley Maxine Burd, age 98, of Alto, MI passed away after a lengthy battle with dementia on Sunday, May 24, 2026. She was known for having a caring, loving, and selfless nature, always putting others' wants before her own needs.  Shirley leaves the legacy of being a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Burd; son, Ricky Burd; daughter and son-in-law, Janice (Richard) Verkerke; siblings, Frank Sherington, Don (Alantha) Sherington, Carl Sherington, Joyce Slater, Artis (Bobby) Heers. She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her daughter, Debra Burd; grandchildren, Monica (Josh) Roes, Jennifer (Brandon) Duprey; and great-grandchildren, Ryan and Janice Duprey.
