Kevin McGrath

Kevin Allen McGrath, age 68, of Wyoming, Michigan, passed into eternal life on Friday, November 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Kevin was born in Grand Rapids in 1957 to the late Blaine and Dorothy McGrath. He grew up in Wyoming, Michigan, and graduated in 1975 from Lee High School, where he met the love of his life, his wife of 48 years, Cathleen. Together they had three amazing daughters and five beautiful granddaughters.

Kevin worked a variety of jobs when he was younger until settling in at Steelcase where he retired in 2018 after 30 years of service.

Kevin’s family was his pride and joy. He was always happiest when surrounded by his family or when watching his Lions, Tigers, or NASCAR. He enjoyed traveling, playing Keno at the casino, Friday night dinners with the kids, and sharing laughs with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Blaine and Dorothy McGrath; sister and brother-in-law, Memory and Robert Buitendyk; sister, Velva McGrath; father-in-law, Anthony Melinn; and best friend, Scot TenBrock.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cathleen; his wonderful daughters, Julia (Timothy) Loonsfoot, Andrea (Robert) Rykse, Erika (Randall) Masker; the granddaughters of his heart, Alexandria (Mason) Miller, Lauren Loonsfoot, Abigail Rykse, Raegan Rykse, and Raquell Masker; mother-in-law, Margaret Melinn; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tony and Nancy Melinn, Deb and Gary Tappin, MaryJane and Ken Woodburn, Ray and Vickie Melinn; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Kevin was a lover of life, and he will be missed by all who knew him. Per Kevin’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services.
