Kenneth Viening

Kenneth E. Viening, age 92, of Byron Center, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. Ken honorably served his country as a Korean War veteran. He was the owner and operator of Bont and Son Roofing and a faithful, active member of First Church in Grandville. In his spare time, Ken enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he had a special love for music, playing the accordion and singing in choirs. He was also a devoted supporter of his pastors and their families.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy; and a great-granddaughter, Lucy Torres. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Steven Viening and Mary Rice, Kim and Dan Kuiper, Christopher and Jackie Viening; grandchildren, Rachel and Steven Hollowell, Jeremy and Lyndi Weener-Kuiper, Kayla Kuiper, Meagan and Nate Ritter, Christy Viening; step-grandchildren, Andrew and Chelsea Funckes, Nathan Funckes, Anna Funckes, Nicole and Camden Andringa; great-grandchildren, Lena Kuiper, Greta Kuiper, Simon Torres, Arthur Torres; brothers, George Viening, Henry and Norma Viening; sister-in-law, Judy Viening; brother-in-law, Bud Nardin; and many nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 22, at First Church, 3060 Wilson Avenue SW, Grandville, with Pastor Matt Cook and Pastor Ed Schmidt officiating. The burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Sunday, December 21, from 2-5 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.
