Kenneth Ray McCann

Kenneth Ray McCann, age 65, of Grand Rapids, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 21, 2016. He was born September 25, 1950 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to the late George Ellis and Quincy McCann.  Kenneth attended several grade schools and graduated from Lester High School in Memphis, TN.  He later went to Shelby State College in Memphis, TN.  Through the years Kenneth moved briefly from Tennessee to Michigan making his final move from Memphis to Grand Rapids in 1990 where he currently resided.  Kenneth passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 21, 2016.  He was preceded in death by his parents, George Ellis and Quincy McCann; his step-father, James Cook; his twin brother, Dennis Clay McCann; brother, Ernest (Buddy) Williams; sister, Laura L. (Punkin) Williams-Dowell; as well as his infant daughter, Kerie McCann.  He leaves to cherish his memories his two children, daughter, Timeka (Kris) McCann- Jones and son, Kenneth D. (Lola) McCann of Memphis, TN;  his life-companion, Connie McGlaun; his step-children, Randy, Rebecca and Renita McGlaun and Chris Clear; his sisters, Maryann (Barry) McLemore of Davidson, MI, Joyce (Bunchie) Ellis, Debra Barnes-Ellis, Natalie (Stan) Simmons of Tucson, AZ and Cathy Bibbs of Muskegon, MI; his brothers, James (Man) Cook Jr. of Kentucky and Corey Bibbs of Muskegon, MI;   two grandchildren, Chris Anthony and Ciara Manning; and one great-grandson, Trevor Manning; his nieces, Ravonne Robertson, Theresa (Bruce) Wyrick, Naquanna and Nitikia Ellis, Myeshia, Brittany, Brandy and Danielle Bibbs; his nephews, Barry L. McLemore, Theodore (Anna) Rasberry, Glenn (Juanita) Ellis, Andre Barnes, Stan (Rachel) Simmons, Darrian Bibbs, Jacolby and Anthony Cook.  There are also a few aunts and uncles and many great nieces & nephews surviving with caring concern whom loved their uncle “Kenny” dearly.  He has many cousins and friends who he enjoyed many good times with. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 29, at 2:00 PM at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Drive SW with Pastor Willie Crowell officiating.  Interment Ft. Custer National Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 12-2 PM at the funeral home prior to the service.
