Kelly Burris

July 20, 2024

Kelly (Rodgers) Burris, age 54, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 20, 2024, after battling multiple myeloma and complications from pneumonia. Although we desperately wanted her to stay, our Heavenly Father called His beautiful daughter home.

Anyone who knew Kelly knew of her incredible faith and her intense love for all of her family and friends. She was a prayer warrior, often lifting those she loved up to the Lord. She was active in her church (Bethel Lutheran Church) and was always willing to have a deep conversation with anyone, because she wanted everyone to know and love Jesus like she did. She went to school to become a medical assistant and worked at Grand Rapids Surgical Associates PLLC where she cared deeply for every patient who walked through the door, and especially loved everyone she worked with.

Kelly knew how to have fun, and her laughter was contagious. She loved spending time with Dave and all her family as she embraced and celebrated all that life offered. This was evident at her Halloween parties, when she was out at Gun Lake or on vacation, when she did Karaoke or played on her drum set, or just snuggled with her husband, Dave, her grandchildren or her dogs.

Kelly was preceded in death by her mom, Diane Rodgers; and biological father, Mike McClelland. She will be forever remembered by her loving husband of 22 years, David Burris; sons, Branden Clavier (Megann) and Corey (Danielle) Burris; daughter, Amanda (Adam) Flagg; dad, John (aka Buff) Rodgers; mother-in-law, Marylou Burris; sisters, Rhonda Clavier, Tina (Jim) Heintz; sister-in-law, Dina (Doug) Furness; cousin/brother, Dennis (Jeannie) Dauber; her nine grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 26, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, with Pastor Robert Gerke officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Thursday, July 25, from 4-7 p.m. and Friday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution to the Pet Tales Rescue (PO Box 88084, Kentwood, MI 49518) where Kelly fostered dogs in their home while waiting for their forever home.
