Kay Lee Veenstra

Kay Lee Veenstra, age 83, of Grand Rapids, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, October 16, 2022. She will be greatly missed for her love for her family. Kay was very involved with her kids from a young age; she led campfire girls, helped with church events, school trips, coaching softball and so much more. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Traveling and camping with family was one of her favorite pastimes, as well as bowling in the women’s league. Her faith was important to her. She enjoyed daily bible devotions and attending services at West Leonard Christian Reformed Church. She had a way of making friends with anyone she met, and she will be missed by many who considered her as their own family. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Debbie Veenstra; and siblings. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 61 years, Merle; children: Greg (Shannon) Veenstra, Dawn (Bill) Barrett, Rhonda Patton, Brian (Debra) Veenstra, Gail Johnson, Raymond Veenstra; 19 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; siblings-in-law, Ira (Mary) Veenstra, Helen Veenstra, Clara Vandentop, Hazel Besselson; many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at West Leonard Christian Reformed Church, 1053 Leonard St NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504, with Pastor Matthew Pearce officiating. The burial will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday, October 20, from 1-3 and 5-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and also on Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at church.
