Kathy Lynn Pols, age 63, of Hudsonville, after a courageous battle with early-onset Alzheimer’s, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 14, 2025. Throughout her journey, Kathy displayed remarkable grace, joy, and faith, even in the face of the many challenges this brought to her and her family.

Kathy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She cherished her grandchildren beyond measure—they were truly the joy of her life. Known for her caring and compassionate spirit, Kathy had a way of making everyone feel loved and welcomed. She treasured time spent with family, especially gathering by the pool, hosting get-togethers, and creating lasting memories together.

A true homemaker at heart, Kathy found great joy in cooking and baking for those she loved, offering support, and always having a listening ear. She and her husband, Bill, enjoyed taking walks along the beach or through the Grand Ravines, simply savoring time together and the beauty of God’s creation. Kathy was a faithful member of Grand Rapids Free Reformed Church, where her faith was a guiding light throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Simon and Joan Essenburg; and her brother-in-law, Mike VanHaitsma. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 44 years, Bill Pols; children, Heidi and Will Friend II, Amanda and Adam Post, Alyssa and Nathan Caminata, Caleb and Olivia Pols, Carlos Pols; grandchildren, Drew, Sunshine (Quamar), Asher, Will III, Lilah, Aaliyah, Everett, Rowan, Hudson, Ariella, and Zoe; parents-in-law, John and Margaret Pols; brothers and sisters, Sharon VanHaistma, Randy and Roxanne Essenburg, Nancy and Joe Krol, Michelle and Tim Nienhuis; siblings-in-law, Pete and Terri Pols, Cord and Linda Pols, John and Pat Pols, Betty and Jim Blouyt, Marilyn Totten, Ruth and John Earl; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 19, at Georgetown Protestant Reformed Church, 7146 48th Ave., Hudsonville, with Dr. Gerald Bilkes officiating.
