Kathryn L. Ipema

Kathryn (Bayens) L. Ipema, age 78, of Hudsonville, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, September 4, 2019, and is now safely in the arms of Jesus. She was surrounded in love and care by her immediate family. Kathy was born on March 4, 1941, in Denver, Colorado. She married her beloved husband, Pete on December 28, 1963. Kathy was a child of God, a wife, mother, sister and Nana.  She will be dearly missed by her husband of nearly 56 years, Pete; children, Kristy (Kevin) Van Wyhe, Mark Ipema; grandchildren, Joshua (Megan) Van Wyhe, Chris Van Wyhe, Kathryn Van Wyhe, Erik Griffin; and her brother and sister, Kenneth (Carol) Bayens, Marilyn (Don) Deboodt. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Wilma Bayens; brother, Robert Bayens; and her sons, Jeffrey Ipema, Gregory Ipema, and Joey Ipema. Kathy enjoyed being an emergency room RN in Denver.  She loved her home state of Colorado but needed to move to Michigan for health reasons. Spending time with her family was her favorite thing to do. A celebration of Kathryn’s life will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Christian Reformed Church, 3617 Hillcrest Rd., Hudsonville, with Rev. Jake Weeda officiating.  Interment will be held at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday, September 6, from 4:30-7:00 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Paradise Bound Ministries.
