Kathleen Rose Black

BLACK – Kathleen Rose Black passed away on Thursday, July 9. 2015 at the age of 87. She was born in Toledo, OH to John and Rose (Nemes) Schmutzer and resided in Kentwood for most of her life. A mother first and foremost, she loved her children and her grandchildren unconditionally and constantly strove to give her progeny a better upbringing than her own. In pursuit of that goal, she worked for the Kentwood Police for 15 years and continued to be involved in the local community. Ever caring and patient, her whole life was a story of sacrifice and adoration for her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold in 1982. She is survived by her sister, Irene (Paul) Fago; her children, Michael Black, Thomas (Diana) Black, Nancy (Mikael) Henriksson, Barbara Black, John (Linda) Black; many grandchildren and other family members. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 1253 – 52^nd St. SE, Kentwood on Monday, July 13 at 11:00 am with Fr. Godfrey Onyekwere officiating.
